Parent Forum - Assessment Spring 16

There have been a number of changes in the education over the last few years including the introduction of the new National Curriculum.

The big change that has come into effect from September 2015 is the removal of levels in KS1 and KS2. As a result, pupils are to be assessed by the degree to which they meet the end of year expectations for each subject.

Eventually attainment will be measured by pupils’ progress towards acquiring knowledge and understanding applicable to their age group. It is intended that by the end of each academic year, pupils will have met all the expectations for that year.

Parents, guardians and grandparents are invited to attend a Parent Forum on Wednesday 23rd March at 3.30pm to explain the changes. The new assessment system will be explained during an introduction by the Headteacher Mr Willan followed by a series of workshops.

  • Workshop 1 - Mr Willan – Water Primary Assessment System for all ages
  • Workshop 2 – Miss Howkins - Year 2 Statutory changes
  • Workshop 3 – Miss McKay – Year 6 Statutory changes
