Hello everyone! We hope you have had a brilliant Easter break! We are very excited about the half-term ahead, which will be full of happiness, health and opportunity.

This year lots of exciting things will be happening for Blossom Class ; you will enjoy new challenges, be given a range of opportunities and have lots of fun. 

English...

In English, this half-term we will be looking at a non-fiction unit. This will be based on The World Book which is a book of poems by Jonathan Litton. We will be discovering more about our incredible world by creating information pages and writing blogs.

 

Maths...

We will be continuing using Power Maths this year in our lessons. Year 4 will be looking at decimals before moving onto money. Year 5 will begin with graphs and tables before looking at the properties of shapes.

Times tables are a vital part of education. Children should practise these regularly at home as well as at school.

Geography...

We will be learning about volcanoes in geography this half-term. This will involve looking at some of the world's most well-known volcanoes, exploring what happens when a volcano erupts, exploring the features of a volcano, having a look at what the tectonic plates are and the 'ring of fire' and exploring life in volcanic areas.

 

Science...

This half-term we will be looking at the topic of properties of materials. This will involve the 3 states of matter, comparing properties of different materials, completing investigations and looking at irreversible changes.

Readers...

We expect children to be reading at home most nights for around 10/15 minutes. We want to encourage a love of reading as much as possible so that children can understand the key aspects of reading.

As a whole class we will be reading 'Who let the Gods out'.

P.E...

Our P.E. lessons this half-term will be on a Thursday and Friday afternoon. We no longer attend swimming lessons.

Forest School...

We will not be attending forest school this half-term.

Spellers...

The children will receive spellings for the half-term.  We will complete our spelling activities every Friday.

Snacks...

If you would like to buy a healthy snack it is £1 per week, this can be payable as £7 for the half-term through ParentPay.
